Biochemistry

The Biochemistry study program seated at the BZH was created in 2012 from a joint action of the faculty of biosciences and the faculty of chemistry and geological sciences. With this program, we aim to train excellent students for a career in applied research of the life sciences.
Each year, we admit 25 students out of up to 1000 applicants.
The selection is not only based on grades (Maths and natural sciences), but also on additional qualifications like extended laboratory-practicals and the participation in scientific contests. In a first round, we select 75 applicants who are then invited to a personal interview. The interviews are conducted by one member each from the faculties of biosciences and chemistry.
During their studies, the students have to opportunity to do hands-on labwork as well as to complete their bachelor's and master's thesis in the research groups of the BZH.
