PhD students & postdocs

How to join

If you would like to do your PhD or postdoc in one of the research groups at the BZH, please:
 
• Check whether the particular research group currently offers positions on specific projects. To find out, go to "Open Positions" on the group’s website, the BZH front page and also the website of the Heidelberg Biosciences International Graduate School (HBIGS).
 
• Contact the principal investigator of the research group of your choice by email. State your interest, ask about job opportunities, explain why you are interested in the particular research group and describe your academic background.
 
• For PhD students: once you have come to an agreement with the principal investigator, apply to HBIGS and enrol as a student at the Faculty of Bioscience (here). If you are a student of medicine or dentistry, please enrol in the structured graduation programme of the Medical Faculty (here).
