The BZH maintains state-of-the-art facilities to support researchers with advanced technologies. This infrastructure is shared with other institutes on campus and is available to all researchers of the life sciences at Heidelberg University. Currently, the BZH houses three technology platforms:
•
Heidelberg Lipidomics, which is headed by Prof. Britta Brügger and offers mass spectrometric analyses for qualitative and quantitative determination of lipid identity and composition.
• The
Protein Crystallization Platform, which is headed by Dr. Jügen Kopp and offers services for protein crystallization for subsequent structure determination. The Protein Crystallization Platform is part of the
CellNetworks Core Technology Platform.
• The
Electron Microscopy Facility, which is headed by Dr. Dirk Flemming, is part of
HDcryoNet and offers comprehensive support for single particle cryo-electron microscopy as well as cryo-electron tomography.
